bayernets informs the public regarding new compressor station in Wertingen

Munich, 5 July 2016. - On 2 July 2016 the Transmission System Operator bayernets GmbH informed the citizens of Wertingen about the planned construction of a natural gas compressor station in Wertingen near the area of Prettelshofen.

The Munich-based Transmission System Operator bayernets GmbH constructs and operates natural gas transmission systems. This also includes and requires extending the pipeline according to current needs as determined in the approved Network Development Plan of the Federal Network Agency.

In order to meet the increasing capacity demand for natural gas in the future, bayernets GmbH is planning to construct a natural gas compressor station at Wertingen in accordance with the current Network Development Plan Gas. It is planned to build north of the gas pressure regulator Prettelshofen at Wertingen. The compressor station ensures that any pressure loss in the pipeline during transmission is regulated, the natural gas is compressed and larger volumes of gas can be transported. Construction work is planned to begin in 2017 and the commissioning of the station is expected at the end of 2019.

About 40 citizens along with town councillors and the Mayor of Wertingen Willy Lehmeier took the opportunity to visit and view an already existing compressor station of bayernets in Haiming (in the district of Altötting). After the guided tour of the compressor station and informative presentations, the employees of bayernets and the responsible engineering company ILF answered questions posed by the guests. In addition, the Mayor of the community of Haiming Wolfgang Beier and a community councillor living very close to the station were present to answer questions and talk about their experience with the construction and operation of the compressor station.
