• NDP sets out comprehensive action plan for the period to 2025, with 71 infrastructure projects requiring investments of €3.3 billion
• Plans for the switchover from low to high calorific value (CV) gas further specified

Berlin, 16 November 2015. The German gas transmission system operators (TSOs) have presented more detailed project plans for the switchover of low CV gas networks to high CV gas supplies in their joint 2015 Gas Network Development Plan (NDP), which was published today. According to the current plans the declining low CV gas volumes will increasingly be replaced by deliveries of high CV gas. For the first time in the 2015 NDP the TSOs have presented a year-by-year high CV gas supply balance for Germany and extended the period under review up to the year 2030 to account for the growing high CV gas demand.

The 2015 NDP, which has now been confirmed by the German federal regulator Bundesnetzagentur, describes a total of 71 infrastructure projects involving an overall investment of €3.3 billion in the period to 2025. "The 2015 NDP sends a clear signal in favour of a stable development of the transmission system so that the current level of security of supply can be maintained in the future," says Inga Posch, managing director of the TSO association Vereinigung der Fernleitungsnetzbetreiber Gas e.V. (FNB Gas). The combined projects contained in the NDP will add 559 kilometres of high-pressure gas pipelines to the transportation network. Compressor capacity will increase by another 320 megawatts.
